On campus use of the H drive:         [ Click here for information how to FTP to H drive from off campus ]    [ Click here for instructions re mounting H: drive on a Macintosh computer ]

Each E&H network user account has a user name, a password AND access to private storage space on a network drive. This space is normally mounted as the H: drive (like the internal C: drive).   Files stored on a user's H: drive should be available to that user when they log into any computer attached to the campus network.

However, though the drive may be "available" to the user, that does not mean that the user will see it when they first log in to a computer. The drive may have to be "mounted".    This is not something that most users know how to do. This page is intended to document that process.

Steps to mount a user's H drive. (as of July, 2010 - subject to change... )

To connect to H drive from home, use instruction on E&H Website / Computer Services:

[ NOTE: This may be disabled... according to Gabe Dempsey, May 21, 2013 ]

Instructions for FTP'ing into a user's H drive from off campus are given via "Computer Services" web page linked to from the main E&H hompage/"for faculty & staff". However, it did not work on my Vista machine, nor on my XP machine at home.    However, when I used the ftp target URL (ftp.ehc.edu) with other ftp tools (DOS commmand prompt FTP, downloaded "Emftp" free program) I was able to make an FTP connection and could upload and download files.

[NOTE: I could not get a decent version of the free version of WsFtp. I saw a note in a Google link that implied that there may not be a free version of WsFtp for Vista.]
